#24 Two Cards & Two Elastics

Don’t blink or you’ll miss this Magic Quickie? The Magician holds two cards in one hand. The card closest to the audience is clearly wrapped in 2 rubber bands. By simply tapping the cards onto the table top, the elastics magically jump from the front card to the back one. Trans-positional prestidigitation that you can do in a snap!!

—————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Out of the view of the audience, start by placing two rubber bands on one card (King of Diamonds) and put a second card (King of Spades) in front of the first one. Make sure all four of the card indexes (the Ks on the Kings) are visible to the audience.

Hold both cards firmly in your left hand by the top edges of the cards: with your fingers in front and your thumb behind the cards.

Now, with your right thumb and index finger reach under the King of Spades and pinch one rubber band that is on the King of Diamonds and bring it up and over the front card, King of Spades. Pull the top of this elastic behind the King of Diamonds and hold it in place with your left thumb. You are now ready.

It will appear as if the King of Spades is now wrapped in two elastics and the audience will not know about the elastics on the King of Diamonds as they are hidden behind the King of Spades.

Bring both cards and elastics into full view of the audience. Since the elastics are quite small I will tell the audience that I have two cards and two elastics around the front card: the King of Spades.

Then, I like to switch the cards from hand to hand before the magic happens. This psychologically tells the audience there is nothing unusual, tricky or suspect. Its just two cards and the two elastics. But be careful, you don’t want the tricky elastic to come loose.

Finally, tap both cards on a table top, while releasing your hold on the elastic under your thumb, hold one card in each hand showing the magic position changing elastics!

Practice getting the elastic in position, it is not as easy as it looks…you saw me on the video. So, practice X 3 and you will have one of the quickest tricks to start off your show.
